Ebates is a referral site that allows you to get cash back by shopping online through their website.
For example, I like to shop at Jcrew Factory. Ebates says you can get 3% back if you shop through their site. When I click on Jcrew after making an account with Ebates, I am taken to the Jcrew Factory website where I can shop as normal. The only difference now is Ebates is tracking this link, and if I make a purchase, Ebates is notified and 3% of my purchase is credited to my account.
The best part is that this stacks with any sale, promotion or coupon code normally used on the site. If you use a credit card to pay, you will also earn the points on the card!
Sounds too good to be true? Ebates makes money from vendors it lists because they are essentially referring customers to major retailers since so many people use their website. In exchange for a couple % of revenue, they hopefully acquire new and loyal customers.
Ebates works with major retailers such as Nike, Overstock, Macys, Nordstrom Wayfair, Home Depot, as well as major airlines and cellular carriers like Jetblue, Southwest, Sprint and Verizon. Even Amazon has some departments that offers cash back.
